Elu Cook Designs, Island Art Platters

Regular price $395.00

The fused glass platter is designed and created by artist Emily L.U. Cook in her local studio. Making each piece involves layering glass with sand in a kiln & fusing the piece to a temperature of 1500° F. The initial firing takes approximately 10 hours. Once completely cooled, the larger glass piece is the cut, polished and then goes back for a final firing.

Naming of each work notes the source of the sand. Each piece is made from glass fused with the sand from a local beach location in Charleston County.

These artful pieces are generally commissioned, so we are so pleased to show this fabulous creative side of Elu Cook Designs at the Gibbes!
