18k gold filled (gold over sterling silver aka "Vermeil" gold which refers to high quality sterling silver that is plated with a thin layer of gold. This is higher quality alternative to "gold plated" due to the two or three thick layers of gold cover the base metal inside which protects the necklace from tarnishing and discoloration.
