Resonate: Austin Norvell

I collect objects everywhere I go and often contemplate the reason why.  Why do we keep what we keep? Sentimentality. Nostalgia. Wonder. Knowledge. Beauty. Curiosity.

The objects represented in this work have an inherent history or remind me of loved ones and special memories. The seashells, rocks, empty bottles and treasures I’ve collected on my travels transport me back to significant moments in my adventures. The rusty old tools make me reflect on the hands that used them and what they made.  All the objects that I have acquired tell a story from my past or contain a story of their own.  It is important to me that these stories be relived and retold, so I have transformed the everyday objects into lost-wax cast crystal, ensuring that they will endure forever.
